Taeil: There weren’t tears. You were over crying. There was a vacant look in your eyes. You had learned to accept your fate, as horrible as that sounds. Taeil knew something was wrong as soon as he saw you. He was so used to your smiling face, how beautiful your happiness lit up any room. “What’s wrong?” he asked. He pulled you in for a hug slowly, as if each body part of yours was reconnecting itself to his. “My baby,” Taeil whispered. “How can I make it better?”
Johnny: “We can talk about it,” was the first thing Johnny said. “Or, we can get into that bath and sit there, maybe drink some wine, and forget about everything for awhile. What do you say?” Johnny was always ready for your bad days. He understood that sometimes you needed to be left alone, just like he understood that sometimes you needed to be near him. “Bath.” you said. Johnny smiled warmly “Anything for you,” he said. “Take your clothes off. I’ll run the water. I’ll do anything you need me to.”
Taeyong: His first instinct was to feel hurt that you weren’t confiding in him. You walked through his room like the weight of the world was on your shoulders. If anything, Taeyong would have taken it off you and carried it for you. “Can I cheer you up?” he asked. He took his stuffed animal and placed it in your lap. You looked over and saw how big and wet his eyes were, saw the sweet smile blooming on his lips. You didn’t know how to tell him that you had the worst day of your life. You didn’t want to ruin his good mood. “Yes.” you said. Taeyong opened his laptop and found his favorite cat video for you.
Yuta: He wouldn’t let you face your bad days on your own. If you broke down, he would always be there for you. If you avoided it, Yuta would be the first one to call you out. You knew that as soon as you saw him, you wouldn’t able to keep things hidden for too long. “Hey,” he said, holding you by your shoulders. “Something is wrong. Come here.” He embraced you, his hands combing the back of your hair. He listened well, his eyes on yours, and his hands never leaving yours. “Baby, remember, it’s not your fault.”
Doyoung: “It’s okay to not have a good day.” Doyoung always told you. He wanted you to be ready for any day that didn’t live up to your expectations. It helped. Only, some days were particularly bad. When you got home, all you wanted to do was crawl into bed with Doyoung and hold him. “As long as it helps you,” he said. “I can do that.” Doyoung pulled your body in closer. He let you drape your leg over his. He let you tuck your face into his neck. Doyoung rested his chin on top of your head while his fingers drew circles on your back.
Jaehyun: When you were angry or annoyed, you stayed quiet. Jaehyun watched you from across the room, his eyes following your every move. He put down his book and thought of what to say to you. He turned on his record player so the soft music calmed you down. You moved things around, throwing them here and there. Every time, Jaehyun winced at the sound you made. When you looked at him, his soft eyes made you stop. “Do you want to talk about it?” he asked. You couldn’t seem to speak. Jaehyun nodded thoughtfully, a silent way of telling you that it was okay. He didn’t say anything more, just held out his arms for you to come into.
WinWin: “Hey, Hey, Hey,” WinWin said. “Remember to breathe. Watch me.” He wasn’t the best with comforting anyone. Whenever you had a bad day, he would try his best to be there for you in the ways he knew how. He kept his hands on your shoulders and kept a steady smile on his face. He breathed in deeply to teach you. You watched him inhaling and exhaling slowly. It was difficult to get yourself to relax, to root yourself to the ground and just breathe. WinWin’s presence helped you greatly. You wanted to do right by him, so, you breathed. “See,” he said. “You’re doing great. Now, lets go inside and we’ll be happy together.”
Jungwoo: He could feel your mood when you walked through the door. Jungwoo didn’t want to say anything unless you said something first. He walked around you, doing your responsibilities so that you didn’t have to. You noticed him and felt grateful for him. Jungwoo cooked you food, brought it to you, and ate with you while watching your favorite television series. He tried everything to get your mind off of how you were feeling by making you laugh and by being present. They were all small moments, but they meant the world to you.
Mark: He wasn’t aware of how you were feeling, at first. Mark came over and gave you a back hug, his head resting on your shoulder. It was all you needed to set you off. You hunched your shoulders and started crying. “Huh?” he asked.” What happened?” Mark came around to the front so that he could see you better. He took your face in his hands and tried drying your tears with his thumbs. “Everything happened.” you cried. Mark didn’t have the right words to console you, so he wrapped you up in his arms and rubbed your back. “I love you.” he whispered.
Haechan: He didn’t want to patronize you. He didn’t want to sugarcoat anything, either. You liked when Haechan gave it to you straight. “Today sucked,” he said simply. “Tomorrow will probably suck. The day after that? Maybe not so much. It will get better.” You sat beside him on the front step, your legs touching his. Your eyes were swollen, your cheek wet with tears. Yet, you could feel hope. You knew it wasn’t easy for him to watch you suffer. You could see he wanted to break, too. Haechan took your hand in his and kissed the back of it. “Lets go get some food,” he said. “I’ll pay.”
